I’ve had an unfortunate OS upgrade experience today. Not one I was surprised by, but still disappointing. Some Perl code I wrote in 2001 continues to work well through many upgrades with very few changes. Meanwhile Python code I wrote in 2014 has required major massaging over the years to keep alive and today I don’t have energy to do another round of endless fiddling so I’m going to let it sit, broken, at least for a bit. Perl and Python aren’t really the main characters in this story, in case you feel compelled to comment on that aspect.
