And it is supposed to handle the Gmail IMAP differences. Thunderbird works. But the folders and labels get messed up because Gmail-IMAP and IMAP are not completely compatible. 'Bird does sync well. Claws should do what you're asking. Probably has the same folders/labels/tags issues as Thinderbird. I'm not sure about syncing with Evolution or Geary. Hopefully a user chimes in.
