@aramba@tldr.nettime.org I'm a GIS Specialist. For proper visualization I'd suggest to just keep the real map in the background putting pie charts in the center of the shapes. Pie size is proportional to the population.
Addition: flannery compensation makes sure the human brain interprets the sizes of the pies "correct".

@DavidHofmann@mastodon.online ja fair Point I can imagine this well. Unfortunately on voting maps they color often the full state in party colors. What I like about the pixel map above that it shows well how big berlin is in population in relation to Brandenburg (enclosing Berlin) which is quite a big state in km2
