I have literally never worked in the formal sector. Closest I came to that was 4 years as a bike messenger, considered an independent contractor so the bosses get out of paying a lot of things.
The rest was all things like sex work...

@LukefromDC@kolektiva.social @jeffowski@mastodon.world no, you don't get it. Health insurance is mandatory. Not having health insurance is a crime and can be prosecuted. If you are employed, it's automatic. If you apply for unemployment benefits, it's also automatic. If you are denied unemployment benefits, you are automatically breaking the law if you don't get insurance somehow. People are going to prison for that
