@astronomerritt@hachyderm.io @MsHearthWitch@wandering.shop I totally get why you ask this. I don't use certain people's name, because it pains me to type it, but I'd still like to cooperate. Do your filters work for common nicknames/pisstakes or abbreviations? Does it have to be hastags or just the mention? Do you request this for actual news and the posting of links/stories/pictures or also for (snarky) remarks to something someone else posted?

Nicknames/pisstakes and abbreviations are difficult because there are a million different ones and while "orange menace" or "cheeto" might be common, you'd also mute anyone who talkes about actual oranges and snacks. The easiest way for you is to just keep posting/talking as you want and need, but add the hashtag or word #USpol either somewhere in your post or at the very end. It doesn't have to be a hashtag, because mastodon is awesome at muting simple words as well. Next to Trump, USpol is probably the most common muted word on the fediverse at the moment. They were the first two things I muted to keep my sanity and I appreciate people using the actual words or hashtags very much.
