But it doesn't acknowledge that Spanish speakers in the Americas represent Spanish colonialism and imperialism. It was a failed "gotcha" moment.

@benjamin_kenobi@mastodon.social @gdinwiddie@mastodon.social To be a failed gotcha it needs the context of BB excluding the other colonial languages or claiming Spanish is indigenous to the Americas, which it does not (unless there's a full quote you can direct me to where he does). It's obviously aimed at the "this is America and here we speak English!" USians raging about him being Latino and performing in Spanish at the half-time. If he'd met the same fauxrage in Brazil the post'd be about Portuguese.
