@cumsnake@kiwifarms.cc You can't divorce that phenomenon from the meaningless, rent-extracting jobs they had. There aren't a lot of genuine value-adding jobs left that pay well enough to retire early. The ones that do rely on excess printed money, ridiculously easy credit, and other financial games to accumulate wealth up a pyramid where these people work. Even when they're well-intentioned, eventually they see how the game is stacked and want to get out.
