@k8ie@toot.mcld.eu @makeithappen5634@privacysafe.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu think about that though EU Commission posts a nice bike post a post about bikes? 🥴 you think *that* is a valid entrypoint for this sort of frustration, assuming the frustration is genuine and not manufactured? don't mistake me, there is a lot frustration in the world and it is genuine but that a post on bicycles should trigger it does not seem genuine to me as well as genuine frustration, you must admit there is also a game of trolls out there

@benroyce@mastodon.social @makeithappen5634@privacysafe.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu I think there's this weird energy when it comes to bikes and cars on fedi On one hand you have the cyclists who are like "fuck cars, they're bad, they're unsafe and they put me in danger" and on the other hand you have "passionate drivers" who are like "fuck the cyclists, they're taking up space on my road and putting themselves in my way" it's polarized, but it doesn't have to be both sides want the same thing -- a safe environment where people can drive cars AND bikes in practice I think this means building dedicated cycling routes and stopping trying to shove cyclists onto regular roads alongside multi-tonne high-speed objects
