Listening to Handel's Messiah since it's Xmas. The Isaiah text has me wondering why an omniscient, supernatural being needs to rely on threats and violence in its futile attempts to elicit better behaviour from us (especially less threats and violence). Maybe it should try modelling the behaviour it expects.
