Today (Tue 2/17) is the start of #ChineseNewYear #CNY (or the #LunarNewYear, if that's what you prefer to call it) for 2026. It "traditionally" runs for 15 days which means it should end on Wed March 4th but, presumably to promote better attendance, the CNY Parade in #SF is not scheduled to occur until Sat, March 8th. There are various greetings/phrases you can use during CNY but the only 2 that you need are: Sun Nin Fai Lok 新年快樂 (which literally means "Happy New Year" and Gung Hay Fat Choy 恭喜发财 (which means literally means "May you be happy & prosperous.." The English transliterations are in Cantonese & you can use Google translate to hear how these phases actually "should" sound in Cantonese. Cantonese is still the primary Chinese language spoken in the #SFBA but you can use Google translate to hear out these phrases should sound in Mandarin, if you like.
