Saw this post on Reddit about a TNG kid who went back to watch TOS episodes and how it helped some episodes of Futurama click for them.
I greatly enjoy hearing about younger people who grew up with TNG, and how they eventually approach TOS.
For me, growing up through the progression of TOS (in reruns) and the TOS films, the journey to TNG felt like a natural upgrade path that followed technology and TV/film trends of the time. So it wasn't a big leap.
But I can only imagine growing up with TNG (or later) as your default... and then flipping back to the 1960s -- that's quite a jarring shift! 😅
I imagine the TOS movies would be much easier to stomach, at least. Trek grew up quite a bit with the shift to silver screen. Less of a TV stage play, and more of a "real" living world, with the budget to match.
