i declined the review request simply stating that i don't answer to that name. and, well, because i get a ton of these. i've consistently gotten at least three times more review requests than any of my peers, like since i was in grad school. none of us can figure out why.

IEEE never does this by the way, because their author system lets you change your name instantly at any time and all of the automated systems immediately honor it. this was an elsevier journal, so it figures they'd find just one more way to be the shittiest possible publishers
