@Taco_lad@aus.social Moving profits overseas is already too easy. He won't stop making wine here, he'll just stop declaring profits here by selling the business to a shelf company in Panama. This is why a wealth tax is such an important tool. The value of the land, the vines, and everything other than the business ownership is not something he can move overseas. Wealth taxes are a very effective way for govts to ensure they collect. In Norway you pay 1.4% each year on assets. Apparently lots of rich Norwegians move to Spain instead of buying everything in Norway. Homes are much more affordable all over Norway, because rich folks park their money elsewhere and have a long sook over how unfair it is while they sip champagne.
