There is no mystery to it: When you get old your body ages. People you know, personally or publicly, die.
A lot of the fun things you did when you were young and dumb stop being an option, one way or another.
Even if you know with certainty that your own youth was a barbarous, primitive time, and that things have improved by leaps and bounds, you will still *miss* things about your past.
It’s not conservatism, nor recidivism. It’s age, exhaustion and personal nostalgia.
