@jimsalter@fosstodon.org @shom@gts.shom.dev interesting. Sounds like yet another ubuntu-ism? None of my fedora or rocky boxes behaves like that. I'd be fairly upset too if I couldn't just issue a straight reboot or shutdown when sshed into somewhere.

I just tested this on CachyOS (An Arch derivative I <3 for desktop use. It magicks away the hellscape that is Nvidia drivers on Linux, but you do have to get used to paying the Arch tax The community is amazing so for me it's a wash, but YMMV) systemctl halt / poweroff --when=+1m does exactly what you'd expect. I wonder if this is another upshot of them porting many of the userland tools to Rust?
