The latest in the Evaluating Gnosticism series is now up! Occasionally you'll hear someone say that gnosticism is just Christianity plus Platonism, a kind of syncretistic mix between the two. While on the whole that's not the case, when it comes to valentinian gnosticism it's absolutely true.
