@metr0pl3x@grapheneos.social In my opinion, the problem isn’t that these questionable projects are being mentioned, but how this is being communicated. The timeline is flooded with this information. However, that’s not what people here expect. They expect updates on the GrapheneOS project—what’s new, etc.—and not news about other projects that they might not want anything to do with. They follow GrapheneOS, not Murena and all that other crap. There are simply different expectations. The information that actually revolves around GrapheneOS itself has been in the minority in recent weeks. Instead, it’s been information about the other projects. Most people probably don’t mean any harm. In the end, you’ll do what you think is right anyway. That will also be the right path for you.

@lincoln@social.tchncs.de Gael Duval claimed privacy and security maximalists who use the best tools are peadophiles. Wonder if others will communicate it to save us doing it or whether they'll play apologist because we emphasised based on the language used they were targeting us? Is there an issue with them taking a platform like that and comminicating this the way they did?

Contrary to what some people believe because that's the impression it gives them, not everyone is attacking GOS, but only a few groups, and right now, GOS is facing pressure and smear campaigns from governments, primarily France, and groups like Murena are taking advantage of this to attack security and privacy in the broadest sense, claiming that hardened devices (like Pixels with GOS) are for pedophiles, spies, etc., but not for “normal people.” So, the situation is tense right now, Duval for Murena spread misinfo about GOS since years. Take a class of 20 students: if there are just 3 troublemakers in the back causing chaos and spreading stories about the other students, we only hear from them, but also, their made-up stories are likely to spread throughout the entire school. Be grateful that groups and experts help you avoid pitfalls and make more informed decisions. The GOS team is one of those experts who share their knowledge; if this weren’t available, I’d be way behind.
