    @rl_dane@polymaths.social My phone hotspot works whenever I turn it on and will shut off when there is nothing attached to it for a certain amount of time A more interesting question here is why would someone turn on their hotspot during an aircraft flight? @robini71@dragonscave.space @munchkinbear@mastodon.stickbear.me

If I go a day or a year between using my phone as a hotspot, it’s ready to accept my laptop’s connection. That said, few need their phone as a hotspot since it isn’t on a cellular network to have any way to relay packets . Off-cellular, it’d be odd uses like letting 2+ devices share data privately.
