@Paulatics@mstdn.ca Many in my circle were keen to switch, once I explained some studies showing how Messenger and WhatsApp appear to be listening in the background, and shaping what types of ads you'll see. Some had questions about what Signal was. Here's a few links I shared with those folks:

@alexblock@mstdn.ca @Paulatics@mstdn.ca WhatsApp also keeps getting exploited by spyware, most recent of many examples: https://www.reuters.com/technology/cybersecurity/metas-whatsapp-says-israeli-spyware-company-paragon-targeted-scores-users-2025-01-31/ They must be doing something Signal doesn't that makes their users more vulnerable to these kinds of attacks.
