@zersiax@cupoftea.social I was thinking of translation/localisation of software or websites. I could see LLMs helping make that work faster and better, but what we get instead is 'the llm translated everything, it's grand' and me sitting there needing to mentally translate back to the original English to make any sense of the UI I'm also happy to try to learn enough to do things like eg order tea entirely in Chinese ... but I also think people should be able to use their computers in their own language. It's not quite the same as accessibility, in that theoretically someone could learn enough English to use mainstream tech in English. But if they haven't done so by middle age, it rapidly approaches "just learn to see" territory
