the Shorts block still works for me, and Ungoogled Chromium still allows to install uBlock and disable passkey prompting just fine
then again I guess you said Chrome
no idea about Windows updates either

@xerz@soc.masfloss.net blocking Shorts requires an extension that rewrites the pages using JavaScript. it's outside of YouTube's software (their site/pages). That's like arguing Google will let you use the old search forever if you install an extension that creates a results page using a different service.
