a thought experiment: the year is 2019. an engineer admits that most of the code they've recently been writing hasn't in fact been written by them, they've been outsourcing it. they've even installed an editor extension that automates the outsourcing for them. as a result their understanding of the codebase is diminishing and it's causing incidents. do you a) encourage everybody in the org to start working like this b) fucking fire them
