@soft@normal.style yeaaaa there's a whole complex of different capabilities that can fail and different scenarios that can derail ability to initiate or stay on task. It's really frustrating because of you flatten things down to "executive dysfunction" people discussing it can be talking about completely different scenarios and not even realize it. For example two common but super seperate scenarios: Person has trouble initiating a particular task because even contemplating doing it increases their anxiety, so they have a habit of distracting themselves with other tasks. Person is able to start working on a task, but any interruption is likely to get them out of their comfort zone with dealing with the task, with impact ranging from, "wasting a bunch of time starting over" to "literally forgetting what they were trying to do and doing diverging else instead". These are both properly executive dysfunction but also not really the same thing in terms of mitigation strategies.
