Obviously I don't choose to read the Mr Men at all, because they're fucking awful, but when the smallest daughter insists on them, I imagine them being written by Roger in his shed, banished from the house, muttering "It's not me that's being unreasonable" and then writing a wizard to magically punish a Mr Man for something his long-suffering wife just did.

There is, incidentally, no character in fiction as sinister as Mr Happy. If he finds you unhappy, or he finds you making other people unhappy, he will FIX you. With a wizard, with a potion, by moving uninvited into your house and grinning at you until you break, or on one occasion by hiring Mr Tickle to follow you around and assault you whenever you behave in a way Mr Happy does not approve of. He can arrange a house for you. Or a job. Or a new personality.
