The National Bank of Afghanistan states that a meeting has been held between the bank, the Ministry of Finance, and commercial banks to develop investment and financing in national projects. According to a press release, the First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Afghanistan, Siddiqullah Khalid, stated that as a result of coordination between the Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the bank, a mechanism for financing national projects has been finalized, which will provide commercial banks with the opportunity to invest directly in the country's development and infrastructure projects. The press release indicates that the meeting discussed the Herat-Mazar-i-Sharif railway project, which spans 657 kilometers, and the project will be financed by Afghan commercial banks at a cost of approximately 55 million afghanis.
