@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place The best thing about coding is that there are relatively few things you can't simply undo, back out, roll back, etc. The worst thing about cooking is that there is almost nothing you can undo without starting over from the beginning.

@gpilz@mastodon.social @djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place My mother was a "code wizard" when it came to cooking. Missing an ingredient? No problem, she knew what to substitute. Not tasting right? She knew what to add to fix it. She knew when to measure and when it was OK to just wing it. Common baked items she had memorized the recipes, and could also alter them safely. But she also knew to get a cookbook out when she needed it.
