@elaterite I was all about painted bevels. I would often, it not the majority of the time, sell a top mat with a painted bevel and an inner mat, thus creating three colors plus the frame. I also made reverse glass mats with gold leaf. This one frame shop I worked at had a silver and gold version of a frame with a flat central area. We often painted that area a custom color for customers. One shop I worked at the owner stopped coming to work because the framing I sold was better and higher value.
