I sort of shaped the fabric around me and marked where to stitch, and then stitched, and then put it on and marked it again and stitched it again. And then I drew a pattern of shapes onto the fabric with iron-on crayon. It wasn't something I would've worn to go to the shops in :-) I think one of my later dresses was partly based on the shape of that one, but I did make a pattern on paper first that time.
