@QuakerWanker@laserdisc.party from what i've heard, that'sargely how japanese cEDH plays out. a lot of what i'm talking about is about USAmerican cEDH and the discourse surrounding high profile gaffes, where people will act like critical issues are fine.
rhystic is a funny microcosm of this because it's definitely too powerful for edh in general, but because it hasn't become a problem until recently, you have people that think its just something you can play around or is acceptable because it allegedly keeps certain archetypes in check, despite it being even worse in the format chock full of noncreature spells. minimum 50% play rate in casual games, a statistic we actually have thanks to edhrec, and up to 90% in decks that can run it in competitive (compared to much lower rates for combo win pieces!) is a bad sign to me for a card that bare minimum eats a counter spell or a removal spell, and probably draws a card too
