This is the best news for the planet. I know that people have seen lots of eco-catastrophe footage of oil facilities burning in the Middle East, but under US hegemony we were never ever going to go off fossil fuels. The fall of the US empire is probably the best way, at this point, to save the planet's carrying capacity.

It's also a whole lot more certain a way to get rid of our fascist regime than waiting for Trump to go from old age. The American people are especially prone to fascism and there might well have been a successful transfer of power to Vance. Does not seem likely after what's coming.
