We get a fairly good history education in the UK, and I thought that the USA was built on the back of slave labour in the South and brutally exploited immigrant Chinese, Italian and Irish labour in the North. Debt bondage didn't (and still doesn't) suck dry any American hard-earned tax dollars. From where I am standing, you need all of those immigrants. Every one.
