It wasn't really UX designers blocking these things - it was security concerns and code signing fees and developer programs and app store cuts and regulations and advertising brand guidelines and spammers and regulations so on. All of these things that were thrown up in my way, when I was trying to learn. I didn't need to take apart Google, when I had incredible documentation and guides and forums to share my work and ask questions.
