You can provide a slick UI and also full access to the internals. Think about Linux for a moment. You can quite comfortably use KDE or GNOME without knowing a single Linux command. Yet if you want, you can have full access to the internals. That's very different to a lot of walled garden consumer tech these days, where all user access to the internals is blocked by design.
