@aral@mastodon.ar.al @BernieDoesIt@mstdn.social I read that maritime law says that if some navy escorts commercial ships in situations like this that that navy's country is reaponsible for all the risks, including environmental disasters and such (and all insurance) – unless the captain of the commercial ships specifically requests such an escort. And atm, no captain there requested an escort, meaning that the US Navy would be offering their escort ...
Yeah, I guess it would be too expensive even for the US --- what with all the risks and insurances involved.
