I recently had a random thought, and I might be crazy, but are the Golden State Warriors the only top-tier professional sports franchise here in the US that doesn't take on the geographical name of the city or state they play in? I can't think of any other team in any sport that makes up that first part. Golden State. I mean, technically, "New England" isn't a state or city, but it seems more grounded as a geographical region and not a hyped marketing name like "The Golden State."
