Hiranya Peiris' comment in Nature #Astronomy is worth a read. Titled "Large language models are not the problem", the argument is broadly that LLMs are only accelerating trends that astronomers had already established well before LLMs. I certainly don't agree with everything but I do agree with a lot of the section "What the anxiety reveals". https://arxiv.org/abs/2604.22071
