@cfiesler@hci.social @ahundt@mastodon.social @graue@social.coop @HabenGirma@mastodon.social it seems the particular problem is w/ the official mastodon app, which i found to be pretty terrible all around. Toot! is so much better and seems more accessible. people could fix the mastodon app, although this is really a bug that the mastodon devs should fix. as much as we complain about companies, open source has a pretty dismal record on accessibility, unfortunately.

@jbigham@hci.social @cfiesler@hci.social @graue@social.coop @HabenGirma@mastodon.social yeah regarding that dismal open source accessibility record, unfortunately, I recall hearing in the past something to the effect of “well the source code is accessible plaintext files so just rewrite the code to do what you need”. I’m not characterizing that as representative, just one problematic viewpoint.
