@DoctorSyntax@mastodon.social I can't speak for the former, but "Wiggle room" was apparently used in the figurative sense as far back as 1946, so it's not all that anachronistic.

@hughc@mastodon.social Thanks for the citation. I looked at the Ngram before I tweeted but am prepared to believe somebody used “wiggle room” before 1946. Still don’t buy it in the conversational or character context of the film.
