Plex just announced they're raising the price of Lifetime Plex Pass to $750 starting June 1st.
Until then you can still grab it for $250 (or smth like that, varies by region).
I bought mine last year for $149 on Black Friday and I'm sitting here feeling pretty smug about it. I don't even use Plex that often, but damn - timing is everything.
A lot of people on Reddit are happy they got it for $70–80 back in the day.
Now the question is: is $250 still worth it before the price jumps to $750?
I'm staying with my old Lifetime for now.
Many are moving to Jellyfin, but I'm not ready to switch yet and don't know why I would need it.
Worth pulling the trigger at $250 or nah?

@dima@dol.social I bought mine a long time ago (for $100), and I would say it's definitely been worth that price. Is $250 worth it? Maybe. It depends on whether Plex continues growing as a software company. Their business model has always been shaky, but as long as the product is solid, it's probably worth that price. If you are a Synology user, it is definitely worth it. The $750 price is bananas - how many months would it take to make your money back?
