I still remember the cop coming out of his house (while on duty) and writing me the ticket on the spot. It was getting dark and me & the boys were heading to the movie theater. He handed me the ticket and told me not to knock on the car owner's door and exchange insurance information. The fucker wrote me a hit and run ticket and instructed me to commit the crime.
