In theory yes, in practice, no.
It's called a "Motion to Recuse" the defense attorney would need to prove the judge is biased to the local governing body, the process is different in each state but it almost always requires that a higher level judge approve it.
The issue with that is that no higher judge will want to touch this case due to the publicity involved and judges don't act like this unless they know for a fact that their superiors will back them up.
Realistically speaking the only way to get a change of judge is for the current judge to drop dead.

Here it's referred to an alternate county trial level judge. They will always back each other. To get a judge to disqual another judge is an uphill battle.
