@seindal@mastodon.social @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de Fascists. Fascist puppets. They've been under attack for a bit, first rightwing spam and abuse and now this. Partly to benefit the corporate code forges (GitHub/Lab) and their owners, partly just to hurt the generally left leaning Codebetg community, partly I'm sure just for the lulz.

@seindal@mastodon.social @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de Everyone who wants to compel organisations by saying: “Remember what happened to Codeberg?”

@seindal@mastodon.social When is a DDoS of such magnitute ever "for fun"? It's clearly from some groups who can't stand being called out for their bad stuff (And "bad stuff" puts it mildly in certain cases).

It's not about @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de , @seindal@mastodon.social — this is a fear campaign that's intended to send a very clear message to everyone in open-source and everyone who believes that technology might play any role in freedom. Their message is: if you don't want to be next, or don't have a sublime ops team to defend yourself, you had better take no risks and make sure that you keep your head down and comply, tow the line, remain silent. Just write your code and go home. Do not even think about raising your voice or letting your politics out. Everyone who says, "keep your politics out of my tech" is complicit in this same message to some degree. This is how opposition to populist fascism is silenced: fear keeps a sufficient portion of the majority from standing out lest they become the next nail to get hammered. Then nobody can say anything because they would stand out, all alone.
