@mvilain@sfba.social no, originally sideloading meant installing an android app via `adb sideload` from a computer
but google is now trying to overextend the term to mean any kind of installing apks from outside the google play store, in an attempt to make their actions preventing users from doing that seem less bad

@navi@social.vlhl.dev I used to do both adb installing on older android versions before full backups were possible and installed f-droid by downloading the apk in telegram and clicking on the apk file in a file manager. If google goes through with locking down to app-store only installs, I'll load grapheneOS. My phone's old enough that I could care less about support. And I don't do anything financial or with passports/driver's licenses.
