> Our attitude toward prog is more about open-armed embrace of all variants than closed-minded gatekeeping. And you can expect zero attention paid to what’s got “cool cred.” This is prog we’re talking about—either none of it is cool, or all of it is cool, depending on where you’re standing, and we’ll be definitively adopting the latter stance.
This doesn't mean anything. Circular waffle.
> It’s always been an international phenomenon, but when we talk about the P word these days, we’re dealing with a wider world of sounds than ever.
Constant use of "The P word" is a big tell to me. LLMs seem to use this pattern a lot. No one talks like this.
The section about king gizzard seems dedicated to rewording the authors prompt in five different ways, instead of talking about the record - which is the expected format of these articles. And of the author's previous work.
I just. I'm suss.

@miclgael@hachyderm.io the first example seemed to me just as someone trapped themselves with their phrasing and ended up with this meaningless word salad 😅 I'm still not convinced that this is slop, partly because of the style can be admitted to someone, partly because I don't know the genre enough and the sentences barely mean anything to me. but because of this I believe you more than my own judgement! in any case I hate that we have to pay attention to this and it's harder everyday to spot the clues 😣
