At a certain point, the only thing that can really rebuild understanding is the willingness to temporarily put the metadata aside and allow someone to reveal themselves slowly over time again.
Not everybody is capable of that.
Some people need immediate coherence.
Some people become attached to their interpretation because uncertainty feels unsafe.
Some people feel more secure analyzing a person than simply witnessing them.
But the deepest relationships in my life — the ones that survived all the noise — were the people who eventually stopped trying to decode me long enough to simply let me be human in front of them. (8/8)
