@gjersey999@ice.ch3.st star wars seriously gets my ire for this. A lot of planets have a single city named after the fucking planet, like Janix City on Janix or Ord Mantell City on Ord Mantell. Janix in particular is shown to be covered in old ruins, too, so what happened to everyone else there??? To an extent, the idea of single biome planets upsets me too, especially as a biogeography nerd. But there are uses for it. In the original Star Wars trilogy (and to an extent, the prequel trilogy too), you always know what planet you're seeing by just the landscape. If you're in a desert, it's Tatooine. If it's icy, it's Hoth. A big city, that's Coruscant. If it looks like Italy, then it's Naboo. But the TV shows and the sequel films ruined this by just adding all sorts of planets that all look pretty similar. Now if you're on a desert planet, there's like 30 different possibilities as to where that may be. And with a lot of planets having one big metropolitan city, seeing a cityscape could mean you're literally anywhere. It ruins the only advantage to single biome planets, making them unique and distinct and recognizable.
