i was just going to post this link by itself, but unfortunately the article lede includes the phrase "critiques medical standards for normal male and female phalluses"
even in an article about how medical standards create violence towards intersex people, wikipedia editors still call us abnormal! intersexism and genital mutilation on intersex people is so normalized that most people won't question it, even when being confronted with how ridiculous and violent it is.
this attitude towards intersex people is normalized even among trans people. when there was a huge spike in bills outlawing GRS on minors, nobody even talked about how all those bills carved out exceptions for intersex people. despite the fact that intersex rights and trans rights are deeply interrelated (autonomy to decide one's own gender presentation, hormones, and genitalia) intersex people are almost never discussed by dyadic trans people except as a gotcha argument against transphobes.
the fight for intersex, trans, and queer rights is stronger when we team up! but we have to show solidarity to each other and treat each other as people, not arguments in a debate.
hi, hello, hans on youtube does a way better job of educating people about intersexness than i ever could, so you should check out their videos!
