@swan_tower@wandering.shop A couple books I read recently that had me going "WHY didn't anyone tell me about this!?" Wylding Hall, Elizabeth Hand It's a sort of ghost story but there's no ghost. Or maybe it's a haunted house story but the house isn't exactly haunted. Or maybe it's a mystery with no answers. It's a folk horror book - I guess - but there is no blood, no gore, only one moment of actual horror and that's seen only in retrospect and with a magnifying glass. It's sure uncanny though.

@swan_tower@wandering.shop The other, which completely blew me away, is Terra Nullius, by Claire G. Coleman, published in the US by Kelly Link's Small Beer Press. I'd never heard of the author or the book. I bought it when Book Moon was having a huge sale and I finally got to it last night. I was up until 2 am reading it. It pulled me right in from the first lines. Then, about 100 pages in, I realized I was dead wrong on what it was about, and I was reading a completely different book than I'd thought.
