I am considering starting a Mastodon instance, but don't know what goes in to doing that. I want to create a place for people to post whatever they want as long as its not hateful, but basically anything, because why not, mainly because I mainly don't care as long as its legal and awesome.

I was basically gonna just pay Digital Ocean for the server space as I did originally for the YuGiOh Access server a long time ago.
