@b0rk You've probably already stumbled on this, but Mitchell Hashimoto (of Hashicorp fame) recently wrote an entirely new terminal emulator called 'ghostty' and so had to go deal with all of this. He documented this in a series of 'Ghostty Dev Log' entries on his blog (https://mitchellh.com/writing) ; he talks about terminfo and also XTGETCAP, maintaining xterm compatability, and such, as well as theoretically-mundane things like font rendering and keyboard handling.
